15-5 PH Stainless Steel Round Bar

15-5 PH Stainless Steel Bar is also known as UNS S15500 or XM-12. It is suitable for many industries due to its low temperature hardening, good fabrication properties and excellent corrosion resistance. It is a martensitic precipitation hardening type stainless steel bar. AMS 5659 H1025 can be machined in the solution-annealed state or in final heat treat condition. Its strength and ductility can be enhanced through heating the material at different temperatures. It is designed to be corrosion resistant and hardened through heat treatment. 15-5 PH Stainless Steel Round Bar offers better transverse toughness and ductility; better mechanical properties in larger cross-sections, and better forgeability compared to 17-4 PH Stainless Steel Round Bar. It can be machined under any of the attainable environment. Firstly, it is mildly formed in the overaged condition. It is then welded by using welding methods such as shielded fusion or resistance methods. It is been heat treated at 1038°C for 1/2 h, and then air cooled. This process is followed by hot-working and then it is annealed at 1038°C for 1 h and lastly it is cold-worked to improve its yield strength. 15-5 PH Hex Bar is useful in many industrial applications and some of them are aircraft components, paper mill equipment, nuclear reactor components, hallow shafts, engine parts, gears and marine gas turbine compressor sections
