Copper Nickel Round Bar
Cupro Nickel Bar is an alloy of copper that contains nickel and other strengthening elements such as iron and manganese. The addition of copper and nickel alloy in the right amount makes it a superior quality product. Due to its superior quality it has become very much high in demand.
Copper Nickel Flat Bar is a kind of metal product bearing rectangle section. It is used in a wide range of structural and architectural applications. It can only be hardened by cold working. It has high corrosion resistance together with resistance to corrosion fatigue.
Cupro Nickel Round Bar resists corrosive and erosive actions of rapidly moving seawater. The corrosion resistance of it increases with increasing nickel content. Copper Nickel Round Baris a long, cylindrical copper nickel bar stock that has many industrial and commercial applications and the most common application includes shafts. Cuni Round Bar is moderately hard also but tough and ductile. Cupronickels rods with 10 and 30% nickel are very commonly employed for condenser, distiller, evaporator, and heat exchanger tubes. The common heat treatment applied to it is annealing after cold working. It is highly resistant to corrosion by salt water, and hence it is useful for heat exchangers and condensers in seawater systems.
Copper Nickel Round Bar is also known as cupronickel round bar which is widely used for marine applications due to its good fabricability, excellent resistance to seawater corrosion and low macro fouling rates.
The addition of nickel to copper improves strength and corrosion resistance of Copper Nickel Rod while allowing it to remain ductile. Other elements can also be added to it to increase its hardening, weldability, strength, corrosion resistance and castability.
ASTM B151 Uns C70600 is an alloy with copper 90% and nickel 10%. It is the most commonly used alloy. It can be found in commercial and naval shipping, offshore oil and gas production as well as power generation and desalination.
Some of the important properties of Cupro Nickel Round Bar are inherent resistance to macro fouling, good tensile strength, corrosion resistance, excellent ductility when annealed, thermal conductivity and expansion characteristics amenable for condensers and heat exchanger, good thermal ductility and conductivity and at cryogenic temperatures and beneficial antimicrobial touch surface properties.
Since Copper Nickel Bar has strong antimicrobial properties, they are promoted as hygienic “touch materials” particularly in hospital intensive care units in order to reduce infections and cross-contamination.
And due to its ductility, it can be readily fabricated in a wide variety of product formsand fittings. It can be fabricated by the procedures of general handling, machining and cutting, forming, preparing for welding, weld preparations, heat treatment, tack welding, welding consumables, welding processes, mechanical properties of welds, etc.
