Duplex steel flanges are formed of duplex steel, which is a stainless steel family. When compared to ordinary austenitic stainless steels such as stainless steel 304 or stainless steel 316, it is designed to give greater corrosion resistance, notably chloride stress corrosion and pitting corrosion, as well as higher strength.
