stainless steel 316l rod is produced from a strong corrosion resistant material high on chromium content. The high chromium content in the steel rods forms a layer of chromium oxide on the surface which protects it from wear and tear, staining and corrosion caused by air, water and steam. The other components of steel rod are carbon, manganese and silicon. It also come in billet form and generally includes a cross-section based on the shape of rod or bar stock. It is sometimes referred as marine grade stainless steel, is the second most common austenitic stainless steel.
