ASTM A182 F310

Forged low alloy and stainless steel pipe components intended for use in pressure systems are covered by the A182 F310 standard. This medium carbon austenitic stainless steel is intended for use in high temperature applications, such as heat treatment equipment and furnace parts. It operates continuously at temperatures as high as 1150°C and intermittently at 1035°C.

SA 182 F310 is extremely resistant to oxidation and corrosion since it contains 20% nickel and 25% chromium. Because of its high chromium and medium nickel concentration, it can be used to lower sulphur levels in atmospheres that contain hydrogen sulphide. It is often utilised in petrochemical settings and other settings with somewhat carburising atmospheres. Applications for ASTM A182 F310 include annealing covers, saggers, refractory anchor bolts, annealing covers, annealing chambers, food processing equipment, kilns, radiant tubes, lead pots, tube hangers for steam boilers and petroleum refining, internal coal gasifier components, thermowells, burners, and combustion chambers, and cryogenic structures. A forged or cast steel ring known as a stainless steel 310 flange is used to mechanically attach pipe segments or link pipe to a pump, pressure vessel, valve, or other instrument. By matching electrodes and filler metals, it can be welded.

Preheat and post heat are not necessary for Alloy 310 flanges, but complete post-weld solution annealing is necessary for corrosion service in liquids. In air up to 1035°C when used intermittently, and 1050°C when used continuously, it exhibits good oxidation resistance. It resists carburization, oxidation, and sulfuration.
