Product Overview

Om Export India Pvt Ltd is a leading manufacturer, stockist, and global exporter of high-grade Monel 400 Pipes and Tubes (UNS N04400 / Werkstoff 2.4360 / Alloy 400). Monel 400 is a ductile, solid-solution nickel-copper binary alloy containing a minimum of 63% Nickel and 28% to 34% Copper. It is renowned for its exceptional resistance to a vast spectrum of corrosive media, including high-velocity seawater, hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid, alkalies, and chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking.

Manufactured to ASTM B165, ASME SB165, ASTM B163, and AMS 5580 standards, our Monel 400 seamless and welded pipes retain mechanical strength and structural toughness from cryogenic sub-zero levels up to elevated operating temperatures of 1000°F (538°C). The alloy cannot be hardened via thermal treatment and is hardened exclusively through controlled cold working, making it an optimal selection for marine process piping, offshore drill systems, crude oil distillation columns, and chemical process reactors.

  • Marine Corrosion Immunity: High resistance to turbulent seawater impingement, cavitation, and marine biofouling.
  • Sub-Zero to High-Temperature Toughness: Retains high impact toughness at cryogenic temperatures with continuous operational capability up to 1000°F.
  • Chemical Processing Resistance: Resists non-oxidizing acids, hydrofluoric acid alkylation environments, and boiling caustic soda solutions.

Key Features

  • Hydrofluoric Acid Resistance: High resistance to all concentrations of HF acid up to the boiling point in non-aerated environments.
  • Cryogenic Toughness: Retains high ductility and tensile strength at sub-zero and cryogenic temperatures without experiencing a ductile-to-brittle transition.
  • High Thermal & Mechanical Stability: Operates under continuous pressure up to 1000°F (538°C).
  • Stress Corrosion Resistance: Virtually immune to chloride-ion stress corrosion cracking in heavy marine and caustic environments.
  • Dimensional Precision: Precision cold drawing ensures OD tolerances within ±0.05 mm to ±0.1 mm for expanded joint integrity.
  • Fabrication & Weldability: Readily weldable via GTAW (TIG) and GMAW (MIG) processes using matching AWS ERNiCu-7 (Monel 60) filler metals.

  • Oil & Gas Refining: Crude oil distillation tower overhead piping, splash zone platform piping, sour gas conduits, and downhole drill string sleeves.
  • Heat Exchangers & Condensers: Power plant feedwater heaters, chemical reboilers, and shell-and-tube marine condensers using finned and U-bent tubes.
  • Nuclear & High-Purity Applications: Uranium enrichment piping, boiler feed pump impellers, and high-purity salt production equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What gives Monel 400 superior resistance in seawater applications?
Monel 400 forms a highly stable, adherent protective oxide film in marine environments. It exhibits low corrosion rates in turbulent, high-velocity seawater and resists pitting, cavitation, and chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking.

Q2: Can Monel 400 pipes be hardened through heat treatment?
No, Monel 400 is a single-phase solid-solution alloy and cannot be hardened by thermal treatment. Increased strength and hardness are achieved through cold working (drawing, rolling) followed by stress-relief annealing.

Q3: Why is cleanliness critical when processing Monel 400 pipes?
Monel 400 is susceptible to embrittlement by sulfur and low-melting metals (such as lead, zinc, and tin) during high-temperature fabrication or welding. Surface contaminants like grease, oil, and marking inks must be removed before heating.

Q4: What certifications are provided by Om Export India Pvt Ltd for Monel 400 products?
All orders include EN 10204 Type 3.1 / 3.2 Material Test Certificates, Spectro Chemical Analysis, 100% Radiography / Ultrasonic test reports, and compliance with NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156.
