Product Overview

Om Export India Pvt Ltd is a premier manufacturer, stockist, and global exporter of high-integrity Monel 400 Round Bars, Rods, and Hexagon Bars (ASTM B164 / ASME SB164 / UNS N04400 / Werkstoff 2.4360). Monel 400 is a solid-solution nickel-copper alloy formulated with a minimum 63% Nickel and 28% to 34% Copper. It provides outstanding resistance to high-velocity seawater, non-oxidizing mineral acids, hydrofluoric acid alkylation media, and aggressive alkaline solutions.

Our comprehensive inventory includes cold-drawn precision ground bars, centreless ground Pump Shaft Quality (PSQ) bars, hot-rolled pickled rounds, and heavy open-die forged bars up to 800 mm in diameter. Conforming to ASTM B164 Class A/B, ASME Section II, AMS aerospace specifications, and NACE MR0175 sour service standards, Monel 400 bar stock retains mechanical toughness from cryogenic conditions up to 1000°F (538°C) and can only be hardened by cold mechanical working.

  • Severe Marine & Caustic Resistance: Immunity to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking, cavitation, and marine fouling in turbulent brackish environments.
  • Precision Machining Tolerances: Available in H8, H9, H11, and K9–K12 ISO tolerance classes with high straightness and defect-free surface finishes.
  • Cryogenic to High-Temperature Toughness: Retains high tensile strength and impact ductility at sub-zero temperatures with continuous stability up to 538°C.

  • Petroleum Refining & Offshore Drilling: Downhole drill collars, sour gas wellhead components, valve trim, well completion tools, and offshore platform fasteners.
  • Industrial Fasteners & Machined Parts: High-tensile studs, hex bolts, threaded rods, nuts, washers, and precision CNC screw-machined fittings.
  • Power & Desalination Utilities: Boiler feed pump shafts, deaerator valve stems, high-pressure brine pump rotors, and heat exchanger tie rods.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What is Pump Shaft Quality (PSQ) Monel 400 round bar?
PSQ Monel 400 bars are cold finished and centreless ground to stringent diameter tolerances (ISO h8/h9) and strict straightness specifications (within 0.001 to 0.002 inches per foot), eliminating vibration and wear in high-speed pump and propeller shaft duties.

Q2: Can Monel 400 round bars be hardened by heat treatment?
No, Monel 400 is a single-phase solid-solution alloy and cannot be precipitation hardened by thermal treatment. Mechanical strength and hardness can only be increased via cold rolling or cold drawing followed by stress-relief heat treatment at 300°C–320°C.

Q3: How does Monel 400 bar compare to Monel K500 bar?
While Monel 400 offers solid-solution corrosion resistance and moderate strength, Monel K500 contains added Aluminum and Titanium, allowing precipitation age-hardening to achieve approximately double the yield strength (up to 790 MPa) while retaining comparable corrosion resistance.

Q4: What surface finishes are available for Monel 400 rods and bars?
We supply Monel 400 bars in Black (hot-rolled/forged), Pickled, Rough Turned, Centreless Ground & Polished, 240 Grit Belt Polished, Bright Drawn, and Mirror Finish.
